License Plate Recognition

License plate recognition or LPR software are incredibly useful for those who want to monitor traffic, regulate vehicle access into buildings and societies, recovery of stolen cars, and more. The actual processing intricacies of such software is highly complex yet incredibly simple.
LPR software works on a database, where the security cameras captures the vehicles license plates and then the software cross references it with its existing database or adds it as a new entry.
  • The LPR software enables buildings and complex with gated entrances like military bases or exclusive parking lots and residences to verify each vehicles authorization based on the license plates and cross references it with the database and allows entry only to sanctioned vehicles.
  • Security personnel can regulate vehicles better, providing them with video based surveillance and monitor vehicles which go over the time limit or attempt in and out parking.
  • Police and other law enforcing organizations can use the LPR software to better regulate local traffic and also enable them to search for the license plates of stolen vehicles or suspected cars in other crimes.
The LPR software however requires an extensive specialized security camera network to perform efficiently. Some other hardware that this software requires are,
  • Advanced video management software with modern features for the license plate recognition feature.
  • Strategically positioned security CCTV cameras which offers the best angles and frames for the LPR software to work with.
  • Speed decreasing elements like speed bumps, barriers, etc. so that both the cameras and the software has enough time to properly record and cross reference the license plates of the vehicles.
  • Security cameras with built in IR filters or external lighting sources to negate the glare of the vehicles headlights or the dark low light conditions of underground parking lots.

The best thing about the LPR software is that it is compatible with almost every video recording software out there. It also comes with advanced features like database searching, filtering, and sorting, and also comes with alarm toggles if it detects an unapproved vehicle or blacklisted license plate.
